Instead of cutting through the metal material, as is the case with perforated materials, embossing involves the pressing of the material over a die to create the desired stamped effect in the material with uniform spacing. The embossing dies resemble the perforation dies, being three-dimensional. There are different stamped shapes, ranging from flat (round pressed shape) half-round (knobbed) or with edges (pyramid, rhombus shaped).
